Chief Executive Officer – Girls Leadership

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop a multi-year strategic plan and operational framework in collaboration with the Board.

• Transform the organization's vision into a practical strategy that includes defined priorities, metrics, and accountability.

• Oversee the financial health of the organization, ensuring resource alignment with priorities and long-term viability.

• Enhance Girls Leadership’s value proposition and its role within the wider youth-serving ecosystem.

• Improve systems, structures, and decision-making across strategy, fundraising, programs, operations, finance, and partnerships.

• Broaden and diversify the funding sources through individual donors, family offices, regional and national philanthropic organizations, and corporate partners.

• Create sustainable revenue models, including earned income, school/district contracts, national partnerships, and public funding.

• Act as the primary external ambassador and narrative builder for the organization.

• Cultivate relationships with key partners and establish Girls Leadership as a leader in the social-emotional development and well-being of girls and gender-expansive youth.

• Motivate, support, and mentor a high-performing team of 10 full-time employees, comprising three direct reports and seven indirect reports.

• Recruit additional team members and foster a team of dedicated professionals.

• Promote inclusion, belonging, and the active integration of diverse perspectives into decision-making processes.

• Encourage a culture that is informed by data and focused on learning.

• Collaborate with the Board on governance, strategic oversight, recruitment, development, and shared accountability.

• Provide timely and accurate updates regarding organizational performance, financial health, and any emerging risks.

• Lead a completely remote national organization and engage in regular domestic travel for conferences, team meetings, fundraising, and related activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven enterprise-level leader of a nonprofit organization or similar platform, responsible for organizational strategy, finance and operations, fundraising and revenue, and/or programs.

• Minimum of 7 years of executive leadership experience at the enterprise level in the nonprofit or social impact sectors.

• Documented success in fundraising and revenue generation, including securing 6- and 7-figure donations.

• Proven ability to guide an organization through transitions and growth while maintaining mission impact, program quality, organizational culture, and financial sustainability in a complex nonprofit landscape.

• Strong commitment to advancing gender and racial equity, whether through personal lived experience or professional connections to the communities served.

• Experience in leading a values-driven organization.

• Knowledge of cash-flow management, operating reserves, budgeting, and long-term financial forecasting for sustainability.

• Willingness to undertake regular domestic travel as needed.

• Familiarity with youth development, K12 education, youth sports, girl-serving organizations, or related fields.

• Background in K12 leadership and/or experience with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) frameworks.

• Experience with earned-revenue models in education or youth-serving nonprofits, particularly in partnerships with schools and districts.

• Authorization to work in the United States of America.
