This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +24 more states.
β’ Take ownership and approve the target-state architecture of the CMS case management program across cloud, data, security, application, and integration layers.
β’ Act as the technical authority for the program with a focus on CMS.
β’ Manage the architecture decision record process and provide approval for ADRs prior to implementation.
β’ Resolve any architectural disputes among architecture and engineering specialists.
β’ Define solution patterns, reusable components, and architectural standards across multiple workstreams.
β’ Lead the strategy for secure exchange of provider, beneficiary, and healthcare data using FHIR, HL7, Direct Messaging, RESTful APIs, and event-driven integration.
β’ Establish the integration strategy between the Pega/Salesforce case management platform and the data layer.
β’ Oversee the cloud-native architecture on AWS, including strategies for containerized and serverless applications.
β’ Determine strategies for data ingestion, transformation, quality control, metadata management, and lakehouse/medallion architecture.
β’ Collaborate with the Security Lead to incorporate CMS ARS, HIPAA, NIST, and FedRAMP requirements.
β’ Provide authoritative architectural guidance, identify technical risks, and enforce mitigation strategies.
β’ Mentor senior technical staff and architects.
β’ Manage program-level technical specifications and implementation guidance.
β’ Present and defend architectural decisions to technical review boards and government stakeholders.
β’ A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
β’ 12β15+ years of experience in solution or enterprise architecture.
β’ Previous experience in roles such as Principal Architect, Chief Architect, or Enterprise Architect; this should not be the first leadership role in architecture.
β’ Direct experience with federal contracts is required.
β’ CMS experience is highly preferred.
β’ Proven experience in architecture governance, including ADR processes and architecture review boards, on at least one previous program.
β’ Experience in designing cloud-native, API-driven solutions utilizing AWS services and CI/CD pipelines.
β’ Familiarity with enterprise application architecture, service-oriented architectures, and microservices architectures.
β’ Proficient in healthcare interoperability standards including FHIR and HL7.
β’ Experience with Pega or Salesforce case management/BPM platforms.
β’ Background in healthcare data integration, transformation, and governance.
β’ Experience in Agile development environments.
β’ Ability to mediate technical disagreements and make conclusive decisions.
β’ Preferred experience with CMS modernization initiatives, federal technical review boards, provider directory and healthcare exchange systems, and cloud migration and modernization programs.
β’ AWS Certified Solutions Architect is preferred.
β’ Must reside in one of the listed eligible U.S. states or Washington, DC.
