This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Implement and execute Sierra Club's policies, priorities, and objectives within Oregon.

• Collaborate with the volunteer Executive Committee and staff on both programmatic and operational initiatives.

• Spearhead Chapter fundraising efforts, establish annual fundraising objectives and plans, monitor progress, cultivate donor relationships, and solicit contributions from high net worth individuals.

• Supervise staff in designated operational or program areas and manage both represented and non-represented state-based personnel.

• Assess staff performance and time reports to ensure adherence to employment policies and practices.

• Recruit and nurture volunteer teams while managing leadership development pathways for volunteers.

• Oversee strategic organizing initiatives to actively engage members and volunteers.

• Facilitate and prioritize both short-term and long-term strategic, programmatic, and financial planning efforts.

• Coordinate organizational effectiveness alongside the Executive Committee and Deputy Regional Field Director.

• Manage media relations, public relations, and digital strategy.

• Establish partnerships with aligned organizations, community leaders, coalitions, elected officials, and governmental agencies.

• Participate in Chapter and regional coordination meetings and oversee Chapter Committees and Issue Chairs.

• Collaborate with the Executive Committee and Treasurer to develop budgets and monitor financial performance.

• Ensure compliance with Chapter and legal standards.

• Represent the Chapter and Sierra Club in interactions with officials, media, business and community leaders, donors, allies, organizations, and the public.

• Be available to work evenings and weekends as necessary.


⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in fundraising, including managing donor relations and creating new revenue opportunities.

• Strong financial management capabilities, encompassing budget preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting.

• Familiarity with navigating multiple funding sources and complex budgets is advantageous.

• Proven experience in organizational conflict resolution and effective communication skills.

• Skill in designing and executing strategic plans, communicating changes, fostering consensus, monitoring transitions, and evaluating outcomes.

• Background in grassroots organizing, training, inspiring volunteer teams, and coalition building.

• A valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and proof of auto insurance are required.

• Experience in non-profit management and/or with Boards is preferred.

• Knowledge of energy, climate, and/or environmental policy is beneficial.

• Understanding of state and federal legislative processes.

• Proficient in engaging with media, elected officials, and lobbyists.

• Experience working with marginalized, underrepresented, or environmental justice communities.

• Exceptional communication skills, including media strategy, public speaking, storytelling, crowd engagement, and serving as a media spokesperson.

• Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with legislators and regulators.

• Strong computer proficiency and familiarity with tools such as Google Suite, Salesforce, VAN, Hustle, and similar applications.
