Chaplain – Part-Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Act as a messenger and representative of MCHAP’s faith, mission, and objectives.

• Regularly visit company worksites, typically on a weekly basis, to engage with employees and foster relationships built on trust and Christian values.

• Make visits to employees or their immediate family members in settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, residences, or other locations where support can be provided.

• Conduct confidential pastoral conversations regarding family matters, divorce, serious illnesses, elder care, grief recovery, parenting challenges, financial pressures, and other personal concerns.

• Offer referrals and coordinate specialized support for employees and their immediate family members with particular needs.

• Assist in the planning and conducting of funerals, as well as provide follow-up grief support.

• Make visits to employees and their immediate family members who are incarcerated when necessary.

• Notify families and employees of deaths and serious injuries and provide encouragement to those impacted by such tragedies.

• Offer post-termination support for laid-off or terminated employees.

• Facilitate spiritual enrichment activities, though not leading them.

• Provide literature and resources addressing life issues for employees.

• Represent companies to clients/customers when ministry services are relevant, including during serious illnesses, accidents, traumatic events, and funerals.

• Take part in new employee orientations to explain the Employee Care Service and the role of the Chaplain Team.

• Carry out additional duties and services as requested by company executive leadership, with EDO permission and in accordance with the Letter of Agreement.

• Basic understanding of the Holy Bible and its appropriate application.

• Professional interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, patience, and courtesy with diverse groups.

• Capability to develop and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.

• Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions regarding sensitive, confidential matters.

• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.

• Capacity to remain emotionally stable while addressing human suffering, emergencies, and other pressures.

• Competence in analyzing information, identifying problems or objectives, and following up appropriately.

• Skill in finding solutions and resolving issues.

• Ability to interpret job-related policies and procedures and keep others informed.

• Proficiency in using Google Suites, Microsoft Office, internet, email communications, and web-based software applications.

• Willingness to learn new technology programs.

• Valid state driver’s license and minimum state-required auto insurance for the areas served.

• Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check.
