This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Acquire hospital dictation and charge slips from physicians, healthcare facilities, transcription services, and Athena for the purpose of coding.
• Revise physician coding in accordance with payer regulations.
• Utilize accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes.
• Confirm and update patient demographic details prior to posting charges.
• Establish new patient accounts as necessary.
• Collect demographic and authorization details from facilities.
• Accurately and promptly code and post charges, including notes for global periods, modifiers, and pricing.
• Navigate multiple software applications for precise coding and tracking.
• Complete daily missing slips and confirm the posting of surgical appointments.
• Print daily schedules to ensure all cases are documented.
• Periodically run Missing Slip Reports to ensure that scheduled surgeries are posted.
• Compare pre-certified codes with documentation and inform providers of any code modifications.
• Alert pre-certification staff of approved code changes and ensure that authorizations are included with claims.
• Record and balance all posted charges on a daily basis.
• Support other departments, offices, and patients with inquiries regarding coding, fees, down payments, and Medicare rates.
• Apply prepayments to surgical charges.
• Manage Athena worklists and coding scrubs related to diagnosis, medical necessity, modifiers, assistant surgeons, and appeals.
• Adjust charges for other insurance providers, including the relocation of charges, payments, and corrections.
• Conduct audits of E/M documentation for all physicians.
• Generate various reports.
• Uphold confidentiality and perform related tasks as required.
• Accountable for maintaining accreditation and/or licensing in the selected field.
• Completion of annual courses through HealthStream.
• Must stay informed on state and federal legislative changes that impact outcomes.
• Should be knowledgeable and up-to-date with all coding regulations.
