CDI Auditor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Analyze clinical documentation to verify accuracy, completeness, and adherence to regulatory standards and coding guidelines.

• Assess the success of CDI initiatives.

• Detect gaps in documentation.

• Offer feedback and training to enhance documentation quality, coding precision, and reimbursement integrity.

• Conduct high-level secondary reviews of cases to ensure thorough and accurate provider documentation.

• Execute CDI audits.

• Evaluate documentation compliance with ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRG/APR-DRG, and payer regulations.

• Identify overlooked or incorrect diagnoses, procedures, CCs/MCCs, as well as opportunities related to severity of illness (SOI) and risk of mortality (ROM).

• Examine audit results and compile comprehensive reports detailing trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

• Provide feedback and instruction to CDI specialists, coders, and clinical personnel.

⛳️ Requirements

• RN license is required.

• CCDS or CDIP certification is preferred but not mandatory.

• At least 3 years of CDI experience is required.

• Minimum of 2 years of bedside nursing experience in an acute care environment (such as ICU, Med/Surg, ED, etc.).

• Clinical background with comprehensive knowledge of official medical coding guidelines, CMS, and private payer regulations relevant to the Inpatient Prospective Payment System.

• Proficiency in conducting CDI audits and secondary reviews.

• Strong communication skills to engage with physicians and hospital staff collaboratively to enhance clinical documentation and quality improvement.
