Category Manager, Hard Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee and develop hard service categories, encompassing MEP, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, critical environments, and fire and life safety.

• Formulate, implement, and uphold short-, mid-, and long-term category strategies.

• Establish strategic partnerships with suppliers and industry leaders.

• Manage the segmentation of service providers and supply partners specific to each category.

• Disseminate market intelligence, best practices, and category expertise.

• Propel category opportunity agendas and meet financial targets.

• Organize procurement events, oversee RFPs and quotations, evaluate bids, and recommend awards.

• Coordinate with stakeholders for contract approvals, savings reports, documentation, and compliance.

• Utilize supply chain data analytics to evaluate needs and portfolios.

• Streamline the supply base and uphold a strategic supply partner framework.

• Discover and qualify new suppliers through market and industry insights.

• Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies.

• Manage supplier relationships using JLL tools.

• Act as the internal point of contact for issue resolution and review supplier performance.

• Provide functional leadership and foster alignment within peer groups.

• Develop and implement policies and procedures.

• Prepare reports and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.

• Lead sourcing activities including supplier due diligence, RFPs, bids, contract negotiations, and operational transitions.

• Collaborate with functional leads and business stakeholders to drive immediate and long-term benefits.

• Oversee savings tracking and supplier initiatives.

• Conduct supplier performance evaluations, manage scorecards, contract compliance, and service obligations.

• Integrate Responsible Procurement practices.

• Serve as the subject matter expert and primary contact for the category.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Procurement or Supply Chain is preferred.

• 5-7 years of experience in procurement-related technical category management.

• Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.

• Strong analytical capabilities.

• Ability to operate on a regional scale and across varying time zones.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Proven track record in fostering strategic supplier relationships and engaging with senior business executives and procurement leadership.

• Collaborative and influential approach with a focus on teamwork.

• Demonstrated ability to achieve results in challenging situations.

• Expertise in sourcing with a proven capacity to manage change.

• Proficiency in selling and presenting new initiatives or ideas.

• Experience in sourcing indirect corporate services and products.

• Strong PC skills and proficiency in MS applications.

• Exceptional ability to work with extensive data and generate reports.

• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.

• Ability to collaborate with senior leadership and global teams.
