This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Oversee complex casualty and liability insurance claims with high visibility.
• Assess coverage and liability across various business sectors.
• Set and modify claim reserves as necessary.
• Conduct comprehensive investigations into coverage, liability, legal circumstances, potential risks, damages, and all parties involved.
• Analyze physical damage to properties, vehicles, and injuries using inspections and relevant tools.
• Gather documentation that supports claim evaluations.
• Identify exposures in claim files and escalate issues as needed.
• Prepare reports that detail the status of claims.
• Collaborate with independent adjusters, cause-and-origin specialists, independent medical examiners, reconstruction experts, engineers, and other professionals as required.
• Manage claim files throughout various litigation phases.
• Review coverage, civil law, and local regulations.
• Attend mandatory and court-ordered mediation, pre-trial, and trial events.
• Keep abreast of legislative changes, court rulings, trends, and claims experiences.
• Provide guidance to Claims Management on the implications for claims policies and procedures.
• Take part in or lead special projects and provide mentorship as needed.
• Communicate with stakeholders who have legal or contractual interests in claims.
• Write clear and concise letters and correspondence.
• Ensure the secure processing of financial claims and information within claims files.
• Discuss coverage and resolution matters with policyholders.
• Prepare claims for trial and adhere to trial alert protocols.
• Notify or update reinsurance when necessary.
• Engage in training programs, conferences, and meetings.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by management.
• Reside in Ohio or Indiana.
• Hold a college degree or possess equivalent experience.
• Preferably have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Senior Claim Representative or in a similar role.
• Experience in analyzing, adjusting, and settling litigated claims related to Homeowners, Personal Auto, Business Auto, Commercial General Liability, Businessowners, and Farm policies is essential.
• Possess advanced skills in coverage analysis, litigation management, legal and medical document assessment, and negotiation.
• Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Exhibit strong interpersonal skills.
• Show superior organizational capabilities.
• Manage time efficiently.
• Display effective negotiation abilities.
• Utilize sound judgment, claims training, and experience to evaluate and analyze claims effectively.
• IIA, AIC, or CPCU certifications are highly preferred.
• Proficient in using personal computers and telephone systems.
• Ability to attend mediation, pre-trial, and trial events.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
• May be required to be on-call on a limited basis for after-hours emergencies.
