Career and Placement Coach, Law

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the Career Pathway Director and Community Engagement Team to provide Scholars with exposure to various career options, assist in securing internships and jobs, and enhance their knowledge and skills for law school and/or graduate school applications.

• Offer personalized career support to a designated group of Scholars pursuing Law School or other Professional Graduate Programs.

• Guide Scholars in career exploration, developing career roadmaps, honing skills, applying for internships and jobs, and preparing law school and professional graduate program applications, as well as strategies for success post-employment.

• Evaluate and prioritize the holistic academic and socio-emotional needs of Scholars.

• Keep accurate records of appointments, presentations, and services provided to students.

• Collaborate with the Career Pathway Director, corporate account managers, and the Employment Placement team on recruitment and preparation efforts.

• Mentor Scholars on creating resumes, cover letters, interviews, and law school/graduate school admissions applications.

• Equip Scholars for on-the-job success prior to and during their internships and employment.

• Conduct personalized outreach utilizing Salesforce and work towards achieving placement metrics and goals.

• Design, implement, and support career development curriculum, Law programming, events, workshops, webinars, and enduring resources.

• Deliver programming through a Learning Management System and in person during the Summer Academy.

• Work with the Community Engagement team to foster impactful relationships with industry mentors.

• Report to the Career Pathway Director while collaborating with Pathways, Career Development, Community Engagement, and program teams.

• Commit to working up to two weeks at Summer Academy locations and may require travel during the academic year for campus or company visits.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school, or equivalent experience in coaching students through the law school and graduate school admissions process, with a thorough understanding of application requirements.

• At least one year of professional experience.

• Results-oriented with the ability to adjust approaches to achieve defined results.

• Proficient in building strong, trusting relationships with a diverse group of college students.

• Comprehensive knowledge of legal career paths and the employment landscape.

• Profound understanding of the college-to-career transition for first-generation students and those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.

• Strong analytical and organizational skills.

• Capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and utilize well-developed time management and organizational skills.

• Familiarity with Canvas or other Learning Management Systems.

• Experience using a database for documentation and reporting, preferably Salesforce.
