CardioThoracic Surgery Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding for designated specialties.

• Conduct professional fee coding for cardiothoracic surgery.

• Determine Professional Fee E/M levels.

• Code surgical procedures within the cardiothoracic specialty line using CPT.

• Utilize ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes with the utmost specificity.

• Accurately implement ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT®, and HCPCS codes.

• Interpret coding guidelines to ensure precise code assignment.

• Evaluate the influence of documentation on code assignment and reimbursement.

• Adhere to AHIMA’s Standards of Ethical Coding and the Company’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct.

• Follow internal policies and procedures diligently.

• Engage in training and educational programs offered by the company.

• Maintain at least one credential from AAPC or AHIMA.

• Safeguard confidential information and adhere to privacy and security regulations.

• Meet required productivity, accuracy, and quality benchmarks.

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in Cardio Thoracic Surgery Coding – Professional fee (Profee).

• Coders must hold certification from either AAPC (CPC or COC) or AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P).

• At least 6 months of relevant on-the-job experience is necessary.

• Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is essential.

• Familiarity with EMR, billing, and related systems is required.

• A phone, reliable internet connection, and current CPT and ICD-10-CM coding references are mandatory.

• Maintain ongoing productivity and an accuracy rate of 95% or above.

• Uphold a quality score of 95% or higher.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

• Capable of effective and professional communication, both verbally and in writing.

• Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and adhere to deadlines.

• Must be able to work independently from home.

• Ability to remain at a computer terminal for 6–8 hours daily.

• Occasionally capable of lifting and moving materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
