This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Collaborate with both internal and external multi-disciplinary teams to develop accurate electrical engineering designs for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
• Produce detailed designs in both 2-D and 3-D, primarily utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3-D software, and prepare drawings in accordance with project specifications and client needs.
• Generate site plans, single line diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment elevation drawings for electrical drawing packages related to BESS.
• Utilize AutoCAD C3D to create site model layouts by generating geolocated electrical base files, ensuring coordination with multidisciplinary groups both internally and externally by referencing each other’s work.
• Confirm that all project drawings conform to RRC internal standards, as well as relevant industry regulations, codes, and best practices.
• Demonstrate the capability to review and comprehend equipment specification sheets to ascertain requirements for BESS electrical systems.
• Engage in initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality and aesthetics of the final products produced by the BESS team by contributing to electrical team and multi-disciplinary efforts to improve and elevate department and RRC standards, best practices, SOPs, and other relevant documentation.
• Attend project meetings and provide consistent progress updates to managers, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Uphold high ethical and professional standards within the organization while fostering relationships with clients.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering technology field, or equivalent professional experience.
• A minimum of 4 years of engineering design experience utilizing AutoCAD C3D, or other relevant experience.
• Physical design experience is essential, with excellent spatial awareness and the ability to visualize 3-D realities while often working in a 2-D space.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is required, with a preference for experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D, and a solid understanding of geographic systems and/or GIS software.
• Familiarity with low to medium voltage electrical power systems is essential.
• Strong technical verbal communication and technical writing skills are a must.
• Assist in design development through effective communication with internal engineers and external clients regarding specific design-related aspects.
• Ability to read and comprehend technical literature and specification sheets, extracting necessary information to complete complex designs.
• Capable of interpreting engineering plans, dimensioned drawings, single line diagrams, and various types of engineering details.
