Cable Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair high-voltage electrical wiring as well as utility electrical systems, ensuring compliance with NEC standards and high-voltage safety protocols.

• Perform electrical diagnostics using voltmeters, ohmmeters, and additional testing tools to detect faults in power distribution systems and execute relay testing.

• Engage in underground and overhead line cabling, adhering to proper rigging techniques and safety measures.

• Operate bucket trucks for overhead line operations, tree trimming, and accessing elevated structures while strictly following PPE requirements.

• Interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to inform the installation and maintenance of intricate electrical infrastructure projects.

• Execute electrical field testing to confirm system integrity, which includes high-voltage system assessments and work at outdoor construction sites.

• Keep thorough records of tasks completed, safety protocols followed, equipment utilized, and system diagnostics for compliance and reporting purposes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as an industrial or commercial electrician, with a solid foundation in electrical diagnostics, wiring, and maintenance of utility systems.

• Proven skills in rigging, welding, climbing, bucket truck operation, and proficient use of tools like voltmeters and ohmmeters.

• Familiarity with high-voltage electrical wiring, relay testing, reading electrical blueprints, and NEC standards pertinent to power line construction projects.

• Experience in outdoor work within the energy and utilities sector, specifically involving overhead line systems, electrical transformers, power distribution systems, and utility locating.

• Capability to safely operate bucket trucks while adhering to all safety protocols for high-voltage tasks; experience with tree trimming is advantageous.

• Comprehensive understanding of electrical safety protocols, including the use of PPE when working with high-voltage systems at outdoor locations.

• Strong problem-solving abilities, proficient in electrical troubleshooting using diagnostic equipment such as voltmeters and ohmmeters.

• Valid certifications in electrical work; experience with both low and high voltage systems is preferred.

• Physical capability to regularly climb structures; comfort with working at heights using appropriate climbing techniques or bucket trucks on construction and utility projects.

• Previous experience in the energy and utilities sector is highly preferred; familiarity with utility electrical systems and power line construction is crucial.
