Buying/Procurement Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Oversee designated categories of items and services, focusing on medium to complex materials and services.

• Assist GE US Government hydropower projects as well as commercial projects in both the USA and Canada.

• Execute volume discount strategies tailored for specific categories.

• Facilitate kick-off meetings and develop corresponding action plans.

• Ensure that suppliers comprehend all technical requirements related to orders.

• Monitor purchase orders and obtain regular updates on supplier status.

• Maintain communication tools for project teams effectively.

• Address supplier deviations and other obstacles with project and engineering teams promptly.

• Revise purchase orders with updates on technical documents or change orders.

• Proactively identify potential delivery delays by understanding fabrication processes, complexities, and obstacles.

• Assist suppliers in utilizing company tools efficiently.

• Sustain supplier relationships even in challenging circumstances.

• Manage payments to suppliers effectively.

• Act as the primary point of contact for communication and coordination between project team members and suppliers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Degree in technical fields, supply chain/logistics, or administration (college or university level).

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a fabrication, manufacturing, or sourcing environment.

• Bilingual in English and French.

• Knowledgeable in site services, subcontracting, and the implementation of volume agreements.

• Proven understanding of all procurement phases and execution processes.

• Demonstrated ability to place and manage a significant volume of purchase orders.

• Basic experience in sourcing and procurement processes.

• Strong oral and written communication skills in both French and English.

• Proficient computer skills, with the ability to multitask and maintain data accuracy.

• Capable of navigating a complex, matrix organization both internally and externally.

• Effective time and priority management in a high-volume, high-stress setting.
