
Business Unit General Counsel – Windows & Doors

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Act as the main legal advisor and trusted counsel for the leadership team of the Windows & Doors business unit.
• Offer proactive legal advice that is in line with strategic goals.
• Engage in strategic planning and provide assessments of legal risks.
• Assist with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
• Provide counsel on corporate governance issues.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts.
• Oversee customer and vendor contract portfolios.
• Support sales teams during contract negotiations and deal structuring.
• Advise on pricing strategies, terms and conditions, and management of commercial risks.
• Address contract disputes and manage claims.
• Ensure adherence to industry-specific regulations and antitrust laws.
• Track regulatory changes and evaluate their impact on the business.
• Create compliance policies and procedures.
• Provide legal and compliance training.
• Support legal requirements related to environmental, health, and safety.
• Counsel on trade compliance, tariffs, and import/export regulations.
• Advise on product development, launches, and lifecycle management.
• Assist with the protection of intellectual property.
• Review marketing materials and communications related to products.
• Manage product liability issues, construction defect litigation, and insurance warranty claims.
• Assist with real estate transactions, including facility leases and acquisitions.
• Counsel on legal matters related to supply chain and logistics.
• Oversee litigation and manage outside counsel.
• Manage the legal budget and relationships with outside counsel.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law.
• A minimum of 10 years of legal experience.
• Preferably at least 4 years of experience supporting a business unit.
• Experience in the manufacturing, industrial products, or construction/building materials sector is preferred.
• Background in commercial law, contracts, litigation/claims, and regulatory compliance is essential.
• Experience in managing relationships with outside counsel and legal budgets.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to convert complex legal concepts into practical business advice.
• Strong business acumen and comprehension of business priorities.
