Business Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the analysis, design, and documentation of both current and future business capabilities, processes, requirements, business rules, and information flows.

• Assist in the VA/VHA/VFMP Modernization Portfolio and the EDI technical implementation workstream.

• Act as a liaison between VFMP operational stakeholders, program leadership, data/technical teams, and the VA Office of Information Technology.

• Conduct sessions for gathering requirements and designing processes.

• Evaluate existing processes and create future workflows aimed at minimizing manual interventions, rework, processing duration, and bottlenecks.

• Create business architecture diagrams, process flows, context diagrams, capability models, business rules, use cases/user stories, and documentation of requirements.

• Compose Companion Guides, translate TR3 requirements into business compliance regulations using X.12 and NCPDP standards, and formulate SOPs for VA Payer EDI processes.

• Convert business requirements into functional and technical specifications for VA OIT and development teams.

• Define and document business rules that support automation, straight-through processing, data extraction, EDI, and modernization projects.

• Manage a Production Defect and Issue Tracker along with requirements traceability.

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, analysts, EDI Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and program/project managers on data integration, migration, and data modeling.

• Aid in End-to-End and User Acceptance Testing by validating test scenarios and cases against business requirements.

• Ensure that solutions are in alignment with VFMP strategic priorities, governance, operational needs, and intended outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, Engineering, or a related field.

• At least 5 years of experience in business analysis, business architecture, or requirements engineering.

• Experience in large-scale modernization, digital transformation, healthcare, or federal programs.

• Proficient in developing business architecture diagrams, process flows, context diagrams, capability models, business rules, use cases, and requirements traceability matrices.

• Experience in translating business needs into detailed functional and technical specifications for development or technical teams.

• Background in supporting data integration, migration, or system modernization initiatives alongside data architects and engineers.

• Experience in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including the creation or validation of test cases and scenarios against business requirements.

• Strong skills in facilitation, stakeholder management, written communication, and analytical/problem-solving.

• Experience in federal healthcare or with healthcare payers.

• Familiarity with EDI standards, such as X.12 and NCPDP, and drafting EDI-related Companion Guides.

• Knowledge of healthcare claims, eligibility, or provider transactions and their associated compliance requirements.

• Experience with RPA, auto-ingest/data extraction, or process improvement using machine learning.

• Proficient in developing change management or organizational adoption materials.

• Understanding of Agile and traditional/hybrid project management methodologies.
