This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +45 more states.
• Execute and manage financial activities related to grants, contracts, and/or clinical trials after award issuance.
• Provide support to the Allegheny-Singer Research Institute and Allegheny Health Network.
• Establish awards and handle transaction processing.
• Perform compliance reviews, manage cash flow, collections, financial reporting, and the closure of projects.
• Ensure the accuracy of financial statements and reports.
• Analyze financial outcomes, trends, projections, and performance metrics; conduct root cause analysis.
• Maintain compliance with allowable costs, performance periods, subrecipient monitoring, cost sharing, program income, effort reporting, special testing provisions, invoicing, cash management, and clinical trial billing requirements.
• Evaluate and maintain post-award business processes.
• Understand payment terms and schedules; invoice promptly and follow up on overdue payments.
• Record cash transactions against programs and resolve payment discrepancies and sponsor inquiries.
• Set up and navigate sponsor portals for payment profiles, invoices, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare journal entries and assist in month-end closing and the preparation of monthly financial statements/reports.
• Ensure all transactions adhere to GAAP, Uniform Guidance, and institutional policies.
• Generate financial reports, rectify discrepancies, correct errors, and fulfill internal and sponsor deadlines.
• Convert and report financial information on sponsor-required formats; create ad hoc reports and analyses.
• Complete precise project close-out documentation, address outstanding obligations, and finalize project cost centers.
• Develop and document internal controls, policies, and procedures; collect audit documentation.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience and/or education as deemed acceptable by the company in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
• Familiarity with accounting principles, budget planning, and financial analysis.
• Capability to interpret and apply fiscal regulations.
• Ability to assess, research, and resolve intricate financial and compliance challenges.
• Profound understanding of financial management within a clinical trial context.
• Specialized knowledge in research accounting.
• Strong foundation in compliance and auditing practices.
• Prior experience in the financial administration of grants, contracts, and clinical trials is preferred.
• Awareness of federal agency regulations, policies, and procedures, Uniform Guidance, laws, and federal acquisition regulations related to research and sponsored programs is preferred.
• Previous experience with clinical trial financial management and/or compliance with clinical research billing regulations is preferred.
• Excellent organizational and mathematical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
• Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, manage significant workloads, and meet stringent deadlines.
• Proficiency in financial software.
• Understanding of financial processes, controls, and reconciliations.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, including sorting, pivot tables, filtering, lookups, subtotals, and basic formulas.
• Capability to interpret and implement complex regulations, procedures, and compliance standards.
• Ability to process and manage confidential information with discretion.
• Compliance with HIPAA, data security guidelines, the Code of Business Conduct, applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and training requirements.
