Business Analyst I, II, III – Personal & Commercial Residential Insurance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +15 more locations.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Underwriting, Product, Operations, Compliance, Claims, and Technology teams to collect and document business requirements.

• Convert underwriting and/or claims guidelines, eligibility criteria, rates, forms, endorsements, and workflows into functional system specifications.

• Assist in enhancing and configuring online quote/bind applications and policy/claims administration systems.

• Develop user stories, business process flows, requirement documentation, acceptance criteria, and traceability artifacts.

• Evaluate the impacts of product or regulatory modifications on system functionality and business processes.

• Engage in or lead requirements workshops, discovery sessions, and backlog refinement meetings.

• Manage shifting priorities and scope while ensuring requirements remain clear, documented, and approved.

• Take part in testing validation, defect triage, and production implementation activities.

• Provide timely communication and status updates to stakeholders.

• Maintain documentation in Confluence as the definitive source of truth for requirements, workflows, business rules, system behaviors, and configuration details.

• Create and implement test plans, monitor defects, and coordinate fixes.

• Ensure that delivered solutions satisfy business requirements, quality standards, and compliance expectations.

• Troubleshoot system problems, identify root causes, and coordinate resolutions with IT and development teams.

• Support production incidents and escalated help desk tickets.

• Communicate issue status, risks, and resolution progress to business partners.

• Review escalated Service Desk tickets and identify opportunities for process enhancement, knowledge base development, and training.

• Facilitate the transition of repeatable support activities and issue resolution from higher support tiers to Level 1 Service Desk teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

• Professional experience in the Property & Casualty Homeowners and/or Residential Commercial insurance sector in a Business Analyst role.

• Experience in requirements elicitation, documentation, and collaboration with technical teams to implement changes to insurance or policy administration systems.

• Proficient in analyzing business challenges, troubleshooting issues, and applying logical, detail-oriented approaches with limited supervision.

• Skilled in managing multiple assignments, prioritizing tasks, managing scope, and driving projects to completion with minimal supervision.

• Experience working with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and technical resources.

• Familiarity with Agile / Scrum or sprint-based delivery environments.

• Ability to grasp technical concepts and communicate effectively with developers and system vendors.

• Keen attention to detail when handling policy, forms, rating, claims, or billing system changes.

• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and issue-resolution abilities.

• Capability to comprehend complex business processes, system workflows, and dependencies.

• Proficient with business analysis, documentation, and collaboration tools.

• Preferred: Over 3 years of professional experience in a Business Analyst role within the Property & Casualty insurance sector.

• Preferred: Experience supporting Homeowners and/or Residential Commercial lines for risks in Florida, Texas, and/or California.

• Preferred: Experience with Duck Creek.

• Preferred: Familiarity with regulated environments such as Florida and/or Texas.

• Preferred: Background in insurance carrier or MGA.
