Business Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Comprehend real-world mission and business goals along with software development practices and technologies.

• Gather, analyze, and manage both functional and non-functional system requirements and user stories.

• Break down features into stories within a product backlog for iterative development cycles.

• Collaborate with the ScrumMaster to create sprint backlogs, address impediments, and provide guidance on scope.

• Lead and facilitate the refinement of the backlog.

• Work together with Product Owners to prioritize the backlog and ensure alignment of requirements with business goals and roadmap objectives.

• Define and maintain the content of team and iteration backlogs.

• Document stories and acceptance criteria, identify dependencies, and ensure proper traceability.

• Collaborate with Product Owners and Functional Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to validate requirements and align scope and expected outcomes.

• Convey business needs to development teams through user stories and acceptance criteria.

• Establish and validate testable acceptance criteria that support Test Driven Development.

• Elaborate on upcoming work items and ensure they are prepared for future iterations.

• Lead demonstrations for stakeholders and report on iteration results.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

• Must hold a DoD Secret clearance.

• Ability to successfully complete a background investigation, including checks for felony convictions over the past three years, illegal drug use within the last year, and any misconduct such as theft or fraud within the past year.

• A college degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• A minimum of five (5+) years of experience as a business analyst on iterative software development projects.

• Familiarity with Agile or SAFe methodologies.

• Proficient in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Project, Visio) and SharePoint.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Candidate must reside within driving distance of Scott Air Force Base.

• Preferred: Certified SAFe Product Owner.

• Preferred: Certified SAFe Practitioner.

• Preferred: Background in SAP or software development.

• Preferred: Certified Business Analysis Professional.

• Preferred: Agile or Scrum Master Certification.

• Preferred: Knowledge and experience with the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK).

• Preferred: Experience with ServiceNow or Jira.

• Ability to work independently to identify and resolve issues.
