Build & Release Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Develop and deliver agents directly while managing and mentoring a small engineering team.

• Establish the technical strategy for architecture and technology stack.

• Create products from source across .NET Framework and .NET Core codebases.

• Prepare thorough and verified deployment assets for every release.

• Take ownership of and execute production releases during designated off-hours.

• Deploy web applications on IIS, implement changes to Windows Services, and manage SQL Server database updates.

• Design, construct, and oversee CI/CD pipelines for both lower environments and production.

• Automate database deployments, incorporating schema alterations, stored procedures, and data migrations.

• Assist developers with branching strategies and enhancements for local development.

• Troubleshoot deployment-related issues across applications, web, services, and database layers.

• Collaborate with cloud engineering for enhancements to infrastructure and environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with a minimum of 2 years holding direct responsibility for production deployments and their underlying infrastructure.

• Demonstrated experience in modernizing long-standing legacy systems and older frameworks.

• Practical experience in building and deploying Microsoft .NET Framework and .NET Core applications.

• Proficient in C# and VB.NET.

• Hands-on experience in configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting Windows Server and IIS environments.

• Experience with installing and upgrading Windows Services.

• Familiarity with AWS EC2 or other cloud or virtualized environments.

• SQL Server deployment experience, including schema, stored procedures, and data migration scripts.

• Strong skills in deployment scripting, especially with PowerShell.

• Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.

• Experience with automating deployments to auto-scaled compute fleets based on machine images, including VM image builds, rolling instance replacements, health-check gated promotions, and rollbacks on failure.

• Availability to perform production releases during off-hours.

• Preferred: AWS experience with Windows workloads on EC2 and AMI pipelines.

• Preferred: Configuration management experience using Ansible, Packer, or similar tools.

• Preferred: Familiarity with SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) and DACPAC deployments.

• Preferred: Experience operating within a SOC 2 environment.

• Preferred: Background in healthcare or other regulated industries.
