Brand Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage daily accounting functions, which include general ledger upkeep, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and reconciliations.

• Take ownership of the monthly closing process, ensuring that financial records are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.

• Create monthly financial statements, management reports, and summaries of operating performance.

• Track daily cash transactions, reconcile bank accounts, generate cash reports, and detect any discrepancies or unusual activities.

• Maintain supporting schedules and ensure timely completion of balance sheet reconciliations.

• Collaborate with business leaders to analyze financial results, identify trends, investigate variances, and aid in operational decision-making.

• Keep account coding, journal entries, accruals, fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and relevant documentation up to date.

• Develop and uphold accounting procedures, documentation, and internal controls while ensuring compliance with GAAP.

• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and analysis of actual results against projections.

• Enhance accounting workflows, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.

• Coordinate documentation and support for external audits, tax submissions, and other compliance obligations.

• Collaborate with the platform finance team to ensure consistency in reporting practices and adherence to accounting standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or Full-Charge Bookkeeper position with responsibilities for core accounting functions.

• Proven ability to manage the complete accounting cycle, including general ledger management, reconciliations, financial statements, and month-end closing.

• Experience in preparing and reviewing financial reports while maintaining accurate balance sheet schedules.

• Strong understanding of GAAP and internal accounting controls.

• Experience supporting the financial operations of a small to mid-sized business, ideally with annual revenue around $30 million or less.

• Proficient in accounting systems and financial reporting tools.

• Strong Microsoft Excel capabilities, including the use of pivot tables and lookup functions.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

• Ability to independently manage conflicting priorities.

• Comfortable interacting directly with operational leaders and conveying financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

• Capability to work remotely while being responsive to business needs and available for occasional travel to company locations.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

• Must reside on the West Coast or Mid-West of the United States.

• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder.

• Must have legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

• Preferred experience in residential home services, such as garage doors, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, or other technician-based service businesses.

• Preferred hands-on experience with ServiceTitan or similar field-service management and operational software.

• Preferred experience with Sage Intacct or other cloud-based accounting and financial reporting platforms.

• Preferred experience supporting a private equity-backed company, multi-location business, or organization within a larger corporate structure.

• Preferred exposure to operational reporting, job-level profitability, service revenue, technician productivity, or other field-service business metrics.

• CPA certification or progress towards it is a plus.

• Preferred experience in enhancing accounting processes, implementing internal controls, or aiding transitions to standardized reporting practices.
