This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Act as the main point of contact for a client portfolio consisting of 15–30 clients
• Facilitate regular meetings with clients and foster professional relationships
• Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for a selection of clients
• Review and supervise bookkeeping tasks across the client group
• Conduct month-end closings, reconciliations, clean-up activities, and financial report generation
• Prepare comprehensive year-end documentation and liaise with the tax team regarding T2s, GST/HST, payroll, and necessary adjustments
• Implement accounting controls and ensure client books are accurate, reliable, and thoroughly documented
• Review and validate the work of bookkeepers for precision, completeness, and compliance with standards
• Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new bookkeepers
• Offer coaching, clarification, and support to bookkeepers
• Conduct regular check-ins and engage in quarterly performance evaluations
• Guarantee timely completion of portfolio deliverables
• Identify and address file-specific risks, escalating broader issues to the Director of Bookkeeping
• Collaborate on client deliverables, historical clean-ups, and cloud migrations
• Oversee new-client onboarding by establishing and documenting workflows, integrations, and systems
• Aid in client scoping and contract renewals
• Address bookkeeping and accounting inquiries and escalate technical or capacity challenges as needed
• Suggest process enhancements to the Director of Bookkeeping
• Work alongside bookkeepers, the tax team, and firm leadership
• Over 10 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in public practice
• Capacity to work independently and accurately within established systems
• Strong understanding of Canadian small-business tax (GST/HST, payroll, year-end preparation)
• Familiarity with CRA portals and filing processes (T4/T5/T5018)
• Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and collaborate with team members
• Solid understanding of accounting controls and clean-up methodologies
• Proficient in cloud-based tools (Xero, QBO, Dext, Hubdoc)
• Highly organized, proactive, and an exceptional communicator
• Experience in mentoring or coaching bookkeepers
• Background in a multidisciplinary environment
• Experience with fractional controllership or CFO services, including cash flow reporting, forecasting, and budgeting
• Fully remote position available within Canada
• Ownership of a dedicated client portfolio of 15-30 clients
