Bioinformatics Analyst III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Act as a subject matter expert in pathogen genomics for public health and other relevant applications.

• Provide scientific guidance and approval for analyses, reports, presentations, and partner deliverables.

• Assist in interpreting complex or non-standard analytical outcomes.

• Contribute to the development and assessment of analytical methodologies, workflows, and tools.

• Independently manage innovative, unclear, or highly complex projects from start to finish.

• Oversee partner interactions and specialized initiatives.

• Facilitate coordination among analysts, developers, project managers, and stakeholders.

• Formulate implementation strategies, design documentation, and operational plans.

• Lead meetings and communications with partners.

• Cultivate relationships with public health and external partners.

• Transform partner requirements into practical analytical and technical solutions.

• Deliver findings, recommendations, and project updates to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Aid in organizational alignment, operational scaling, and service enhancement.

• Collaborate with various teams to enhance consistency, coordination, and quality of delivery.

• Mentor Analyst I and II staff and spearhead training initiatives.

• Establish best practices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and internal technical standards.

• Identify opportunities for workflow optimization, automation, and operational efficiency.

• Define product vision, roadmap, priorities, acceptance criteria, requirements, user stories, and backlog priorities.

• Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and the development team to facilitate sprint objectives and product delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s or doctoral degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science, microbiology, molecular biology, or a related field.

• Over 7 years of experience in bioinformatics analysis, with specialization in NGS and multi-omics data.

• Proficiency in SQL, Python, or R.

• Familiarity with bioinformatics tools, databases, and workflow management systems such as Nextflow, Snakemake, and WDL.

• Expertise in applying bioinformatics tools and workflows to intricate biological questions, especially in pathogen genomics.

• Advanced skills in genome assembly, annotation, taxonomic classification, and antimicrobial resistance detection.

• Proficient in genomic epidemiology techniques, including phylogenetics, outbreak investigation tools, and MLST typing.

• Capacity to lead and manage multiple projects either independently or collaboratively.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical results to a diverse audience.

• Strong judgment and advanced problem-solving abilities with minimal oversight.

• High motivation and a proven track record in public health initiatives.

• Must possess citizenship for the country where you intend to work; this role does not provide sponsorship.
