BIM Designer – Coordinator, Civil

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, manage, and sustain civil models utilizing Civil 3D and AutoCAD.

• Create site layouts, grading, drainage systems, roads, utilities, and earthwork alternatives.

• Assist with feasibility studies, constructability assessments, phasing, preliminary design evaluations, and future expansion strategies.

• Model delivery routes for equipment, turning movements, crane locations, laydown areas, maintenance clearances, and staged construction plans.

• Generate and uphold surfaces, grading and earthwork models, equipment and building pads, roads, alignments, profiles, and corridors.

• Integrate flood protection, stormwater management, containment, and process-drainage specifications.

• Design gravity and pressure utility networks for gas, cooling and process water, fire water, wastewater, electrical duct banks, and communication systems.

• Collaborate on utility routes, corridors, crossings, connections, and clearances with engineers, consultants, utility providers, vendors, and construction teams.

• Merge civil models with buildings, power plants, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, water treatment facilities, gas plants, cooling systems, and site utilities.

• Align vendor general arrangements, foundation footprints, equipment elevations, trenches, pits, and pipe-support locations with multidisciplinary engineering insights.

• Oversee Civil 3D data shortcuts, external references, coordinate systems, styles, templates, and parts libraries.

• Coordinate Civil 3D, Revit, vendor, and combined-discipline models; validate alignment in Navisworks.

• Facilitate model reviews, address clashes and spatial conflicts, communicate design modifications, and monitor issues until resolution.

• Examine civil models and drawings for thoroughness, reference integrity, consistency, and compliance with BIM standards.

• Create plans, profiles, sections, model exports, review packets, and model-based quantity assessments.

• Maintain reusable content, document workflows, and enhance civil BIM delivery across multiple concurrent projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in civil design, BIM modeling, or civil infrastructure drafting.

• Relevant degree/diploma or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience in supporting mission-critical facilities or intricate industrial infrastructure across various disciplines.

• Advanced proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD, including grading, corridors, utility networks, sheet production, data shortcuts, references, coordinate systems, and model dependencies.

• Familiarity with site-survey data, GIS, point clouds, NavVis, or similar laser-scanning/reality-capture processes.

• Experience with Navisworks, Revizto, and Autodesk Forma.

• Ability to autonomously deliver civil packages, interpret engineering and vendor documentation, identify missing inputs, and appropriately escalate engineering decisions.

• Strong communication and organizational abilities amidst changing priorities and concurrent projects.

• Direct experience with hyperscale, colocation, or other critical data center campuses is preferred.

• Experience with gas turbine or reciprocating engine power plants, combined-cycle or CHP facilities, BESS installations, water treatment plants, gas metering and conditioning facilities, or similar industrial infrastructure is preferred.

• Understanding of OEM installation requirements, equipment and foundation interfaces, maintenance envelopes, and balance-of-plant infrastructure is preferred.

• Familiarity with Revit-to-Civil 3D workflows is preferred.

• Experience in reviewing consultant models, BIM execution plans, levels of development, model quality, and common data environments is preferred.

• Experience in enhancing production through Dynamo, scripting, or other automation tools is preferred.
