Billing Operations Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Manage and enhance the complete billing lifecycle for retailers in the Instacart Marketplace.

• Ensure precise invoicing, adherence to financial controls, and timely completion of month-end closing processes.

• Take ownership of billing portfolios across key retail partners and various revenue streams.

• Create and uphold billing policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality benchmarks.

• Address discrepancies and escalations in collaboration with Finance Systems, Business Development, and Revenue departments.

• Develop dashboards, reporting tools, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor billing health.

• Define and implement enhancements, integrations, and automation for billing systems alongside Product and Engineering teams.

• Uphold internal controls, audit requirements, and contractual billing stipulations.

• Guide junior team members and expand billing operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• Over 5 years of experience in Billing Operations, Order-to-Cash processes, or Accounts Receivable within technology, e-commerce, marketplace, or subscription/SaaS sectors.

• At least 2 years of experience leading cross-functional billing or quote-to-cash initiatives as an individual contributor, overseeing everything from requirements to user acceptance testing (UAT) and launch.

• Practical experience with Salesforce CPQ and at least one billing platform like Zuora, Chargebee, or Stripe Billing, in addition to one ERP system such as NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle.

• Advanced skills in Excel, including the use of pivot tables and lookups.

• Basic knowledge of SQL for reconciliation and data analysis.

• Familiarity with billing controls, SOX requirements, and revenue considerations, including ASC 606 as it relates to invoicing, credits, and adjustments.
