Billing and Collections Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Diligently follow up on outstanding claims with thoroughness, accuracy, promptness, and all necessary supporting documentation.

• Keep billing guidelines, fee schedules, contract rates, and related materials up to date.

• Review, document, and address incoming correspondence and payor inquiries.

• Provide assistance with payor-related tasks as necessary.

• Report any payor issues and trends in denials to the Lead/Supervisor.

• Appeal and/or rebill underpaid claims and assist with payments when required.

• Maintain comprehensive and precise account documentation.

• Manage accounts receivable effectively.

• Execute other assigned tasks as necessary.

• Travel: 0%

• No supervisory responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; along with one to two years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Preferred 1-2 years of experience in medical billing and claims reimbursement.

• Familiarity with Government, Commercial, and Private payers is preferred.

• Understanding of medical and billing terminology is preferred.

• Knowledge of HIPAA and other industry-specific regulations is preferred.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.

• Excellent organizational skills; detail-oriented; capable of prioritizing tasks, multitasking, and meeting deadlines.

• Intermediate skills in customer service and phone communication.

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities.

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Regular attendance is required.
