Bilingual Software Product Owner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Acquire comprehensive knowledge of the internal system and grasp the intricate issues related to the team's operations.

• Organize and enhance the technical backlog to align with the product strategy, technical roadmap, and business goals.

• Ensure that backlog items are well-understood, appropriately sized, sequenced, and primed for delivery in small increments.

• Maintain ongoing communication with end users and internal clients, collect feedback, evaluate satisfaction, and adjust priorities as needed.

• Convert business requirements, customer feedback, and product priorities into user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog items.

• Make well-informed decisions and communicate clear priorities to the development team.

• Establish sprint objectives and facilitate progressive delivery during each iteration.

• Engage in SAFe/Agile ceremonies such as cycle and iteration planning, backlog refinement, demos, and inspection/adaptation.

• Collaborate with senior specialists to shape, refine, and deliver product capabilities.

• Represent the team to both internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating progress, challenges, and impacts.

• Coordinate resources and manage dependencies and blockers across multiple teams.

• Align expectations concerning testing, quality, usability, and delivery across various teams.

• Prioritize and handle critical bugs and system fixes, coordinate swift responses to incidents, determine resolution strategies, and identify risks and blockers.

• Confirm that the delivered work meets acceptance criteria and satisfies customer expectations.

• Encourage continuous improvement and Agile maturity within the team.

• Work collaboratively with development, quality assurance, solution design, business, portfolio, and UX stakeholders to translate priorities into actionable deliverables.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in both French and English, both spoken and written.

• Over 5 years of experience as a Software Product Owner, Scrum Master, or in a similar Agile role.

• Experience in managing and prioritizing a team backlog using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.

• Experience in participating in PI planning or comparable cross-team planning initiatives.

• Interest or background in actuarial science, pension plans, insurance, or financial services, or a strong aptitude for quickly learning in a complex and specialized technical field.

• Solid understanding of Agile delivery practices.

• Good grasp of the software development lifecycle, quality practices, and product delivery.

• Ability to translate customer needs into precise user stories and acceptance criteria.

• Capacity to balance business value, technical feasibility, risk, and delivery capacity when prioritizing tasks.

• Skill in clearly connecting business objectives to backlog priorities.

• Curiosity and the ability to learn rapidly while recognizing the expertise around you.

• Effective communication skills with business teams, Development, QA, and UX stakeholders.

• Ability to build consensus among varying perspectives and facilitate team decision-making.

• Strong sense of accountability for quality, customer value, and results.

• Intermediate English proficiency is necessary for regular interactions with English-speaking external and internal parties and the use of English IT tools.

• Experience working within SAFe or large-scale Agile methodologies is advantageous.

• In-depth knowledge of Agile tools like Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar is a plus.

• Experience in delivering complex software products or digital solutions is beneficial.

• Previous experience with legacy systems or actuarial architectures is an asset.
