This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Provide guidance and information to employees about leave of absence and modified work schedule requirements.
β’ Manage FMLA, CFRA, SDI, PFL, Paid Parental Leave, and other state and federal leave processes across various states.
β’ Collect and complete necessary documentation, assess leave eligibility, and designate qualifying FMLA leave.
β’ Oversee return-to-work processes and facilitate communication among employees, managers, and integrated partners.
β’ Organize supplemental pay utilizing PFL, short-term disability, paid parental leave, sick leave, and vacation.
β’ Interpret leave laws and clarify their interactions with paid time off, workersβ compensation, and disability benefits.
β’ Manage accommodation requests, including ADA requests, and administer additional time-off programs.
β’ Keep accurate records of leaves and accommodations, along with confidential medical documentation.
β’ Stay informed about applicable leave and accommodation laws and contribute to policy updates.
β’ Assist with insurance premium billing, payment tracking, reconciliation, and follow-up during unpaid or reduced-pay leaves.
β’ At the H01.2 level: assist in implementing new benefits programs, advise on complex benefits policies, resolve benefits-related issues, conduct training and orientation, support annual open enrollment, analyze audit reports, and generate basic management reports.
β’ Bachelorβs Degree in Human Resources, Business, Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
β’ Fundamental knowledge and experience with employee benefits programs and best practices, techniques, standards, processes, and systems.
β’ Proven experience providing benefits information and support to employees and their families.
β’ Familiarity with regulatory requirements and relevant state and federal laws related to leave management.
β’ Exceptional customer service skills.
β’ Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
β’ Basic knowledge and proficiency in using automated business tools and specialized applications, including MS Office.
β’ At the H01.2 level: extensive experience offering one-on-one and/or group benefits counseling.
β’ At the H01.2 level: strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
β’ At the H01.2 level: experience working with minimal guidance and as a collaborative team member.
β’ At the H01.2 level: familiarity with online HRIS/benefit data systems.
β’ Must be eligible to access the Laboratory in accordance with NDAA Section 3112.
β’ External candidates selected for the role must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test.
