Background Investigator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Successfully complete a comprehensive full-time training program for new Investigators lasting 6-7 weeks, conducted both virtually and in person.

• Engage in daily travel to perform in-person background investigations, assessing the employment suitability of individuals who need access to sensitive or classified information of the U.S. Government.

• Plan and carry out face-to-face interviews with various stakeholders, including subjects, neighbors, employers, friends, and family members.

• Execute record searches across police agencies, courthouses, educational institutions, financial establishments, and medical/mental health facilities.

• Clearly and concisely type and report all gathered information using a government-issued computer system.

• Operate independently while collaborating as part of an Investigator team and coordinating with a Field Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of general work experience or a bachelor's degree is acceptable.

• Preferred experience in conducting federal background investigations.

• Must be capable of obtaining and retaining a Top Secret eligible clearance.

• An active federal background investigation with T5 adjudication is preferred.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Daily local travel and occasional travel beyond the primary work area may be necessary.

• A home office setup is required.

• Temporary Duty Assignments or remote travel lasting 14-30 days away from home may be required.

• Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the Chambersburg city center.

• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for full-time use are essential.

• Adequate motor vehicle insurance is necessary.

• Must possess accurate and efficient typing skills, with a recommended speed of 40+ words per minute.

• Ability to operate multiple computer programs simultaneously is required.

• Capability to communicate verbally for extended periods and hear adequately for both in-person and telephone conversations is essential.

• Proficiency in recording, reading, and transcribing words and numbers accurately is expected.

• Strong grammar and writing skills are a must.

• Ability to engage professionally, write for extended durations, meet punctuality and attendance requirements, and maintain meticulous attention to detail is crucial.

• A high standard of confidentiality, ethics, and integrity is required.

• Professional attire is mandatory.

• Physical ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds, climb stairs, walk extensively, stand for long durations, and drive under adverse or nighttime conditions is necessary.
