Backend Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and sustain RESTful APIs to facilitate seamless integration for customers.

• Guarantee the scalability, security, and compliance with best practices of APIs.

• Actively manage and minimize technical debt while enhancing system architecture, stability, and performance.

• Engage in code reviews and promote knowledge sharing.

• Implement and advocate for best practices and design patterns within engineering teams.

• Lead the entire lifecycle of minor feature development, from initial concept and design to implementation and delivery.

• Actively participate in Megaport's agile development process and foster continuous improvement within the engineering team.

• Assume responsibility for products and resolve technical issues for both internal and external users.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in software development using Java, with a focus on object-oriented design and related design patterns.

• Proven experience in developing services and tools related to web applications.

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.

• Solid data modeling expertise with experience in relational databases using SQL; familiarity with Hibernate is preferred.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

• Ability to think logically, ask pertinent questions, and present technical details clearly and succinctly.

• Bonus: Familiarity with networking concepts (IP routing, MPLS).

• Bonus: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).

• Bonus: Knowledge of programming languages such as Kotlin, JavaScript, and Python.

• Familiarity with Spring framework; the main codebase is Java/Spring MVC, with an ongoing migration to Kotlin/Spring Boot.
