Backend Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Oversee the platform's most challenging technical projects, focusing on consistency, financial transactions, regulated integrations, or high reversal risks.

• Create solutions and document architectural choices, ensuring that ADRs and the reference architecture remain current.

• Establish and version integration contracts with partners and services prior to implementation.

• Enhance the team's technical standards by advocating and maintaining architectural and coding norms while conducting reviews of critical areas.

• Assist in defining the squad's use of AI throughout the development lifecycle, contributing to repeatable context and tools.

• Support financial operations, including monitoring the health of payment and wallet flows in production, reconciliation, incident response, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Act as the primary technical escalation contact for complex incidents by investigating, diagnosing, resolving issues, and converting lessons learned into preventative strategies.

• Tackle technical debt that affects scalability or reliability, ensuring explicit prioritization.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Operations, Finance, and Compliance teams to guarantee that business and regulatory requirements are fulfilled.

⛳️ Requirements

• A completed bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education in any field.

• Extensive experience with critical transactional systems, emphasizing idempotency, consistency, reconciliation, and traceability.

• Strong understanding of architecture and design patterns, with a focus on problem-driven decision-making.

• Proficient in coding agents (Claude Code or similar) throughout the entire development lifecycle: specification, implementation, testing, and review.

• Capability to disseminate practices, tools, and standards that enhance team productivity.

• Experience with relational databases, including data modeling, transactions, and performance optimization.

• Familiarity with testing strategies, including unit, contract, API, integration, and load testing.

• Experience in managing integration contracts, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and preventing incidents.

• Ability to autonomously lead technical initiatives from start to finish and influence decision-making processes.

• Effective communication with Engineering, Product, and business teams, translating technical risks into business implications.

• Adaptability to manage changing priorities while ensuring technical consistency.

• Proficient in Java and the Spring ecosystem, or with Node.js or Go.

• Knowledge of Brazilian payment methods (Pix/SPI/DICT, TED/STR, boleto, and CIP).

• Familiarity with core banking systems, general ledgers, and double-entry bookkeeping.

• Experience with third-party integrations in regulated settings (BACEN, banking correspondents, and payment processors).

• Background working in fintechs or with regulated financial systems.

• Understanding of asynchronous messaging (SQS/SNS or equivalent) and anticorruption layer patterns.

• Knowledge of cloud-native applications, containers, microservices, and AWS.

• Experience with CI/CD and quality automation in the delivery pipeline.

• Familiarity with observability, including metrics, distributed tracing, and actionable alerts.

• Experience in developing AI-powered automations and internal tools (agents, MCP, skills, and context pipelines).

• Proven experience in deploying AI solutions in regulated environments, with a focus on privacy, auditing, and controls for sensitive data.
