Back End Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Create and implement backend APIs and services utilizing Ruby on Rails 7 and Python/Django 5.

• Develop and sustain GraphQL-first APIs with graphql-ruby as well as REST/OpenAPI APIs using Django REST Framework.

• Design and maintain background processing systems with Sidekiq/sidekiq-cron and Celery/celery-beat.

• Design and manage PostgreSQL databases alongside Redis-based caching and queue systems.

• Execute and uphold authentication and security protocols, including JWT, Knox token authentication, Google OAuth, and TOTP 2FA.

• Establish and maintain integrations with Stripe, Authorize.net, DoseSpot, Elation, PerfectRx, Twilio SMS, Customer.io, Intercom, and Mailgun.

• Develop robust processing for inbound webhooks for third-party integrations.

• Create and manage GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines, including transitioning from AWS CodeBuild and GitLab CI.

• Assist in Docker-based deployments and AWS infrastructure that includes ECS/CodeBuild, S3, and IAM.

• Deploy and manage Next.js/Nuxt applications utilizing Vercel.

• Maintain Docker and docker-compose environments for local development.

• Operate within multi-repository Git workflows, including mirrored GitLab and GitHub repositories.

⛳️ Requirements

• Outstanding English communication abilities, both written and verbal (C1 level minimum).

• Significant experience with Ruby on Rails 7, including graphql-ruby, Devise, JWT authentication, Sidekiq/sidekiq-cron, and interactor/service-object patterns.

• Strong experience with Python/Django 5, including Django REST Framework, Celery/celery-beat, pytest, and uv tooling.

• Proficient in PostgreSQL and Redis for caching and queues.

• Comprehensive understanding of GraphQL and REST/OpenAPI, including drf-spectacular/Swagger.

• Familiarity with JWT, Knox token authentication, Google OAuth, and TOTP 2FA.

• Experience in CI/CD processes using GitHub Actions and migrating AWS CodeBuild or GitLab CI pipelines.

• Basic knowledge of AWS fundamentals, Docker-based deployments, ECS/CodeBuild, S3, and IAM.

• Experience deploying and managing Next.js/Nuxt applications on Vercel.

• Proficient in using Docker and docker-compose.

• Experience with multi-repository Git workflows and managing mirrored GitLab/GitHub repositories.

• Familiarity with significant third-party integrations, payment systems, pharmacy/EHR, communications, and inbound webhook systems.
