Azure Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, manage, and enhance Microsoft Azure infrastructure.

• Administer Azure Virtual Machines, storage accounts, virtual networks, resource groups, and associated services.

• Configure and sustain VNets, Network Security Groups, route tables, private endpoints, VPN connectivity, DNS services, and VNet peering.

• Execute and uphold Azure security measures and operational best practices.

• Monitor Azure environments to ensure optimal performance, availability, security, and cost efficiency.

• Assist with Azure backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity efforts.

• Manage Microsoft Entra ID, encompassing Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC, and identity governance.

• Deploy and manage Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot.

• Support device compliance policies, application deployment, and endpoint security.

• Integrate cloud and on-premises identity solutions.

• Provide support for Azure DevOps environments, repositories, pipelines, and CI/CD processes.

• Develop automation solutions using PowerShell, Azure CLI, ARM templates, Bicep, or similar Infrastructure as Code tools.

• Optimize provisioning, monitoring, configuration, and operational tasks.

• Collaborate with development teams regarding application deployment and release management.

• Implement and uphold cloud and infrastructure security standards and practices.

• Address security findings, carry out vulnerability remediation tasks, and manage operational incidents.

• Administer and support CrowdStrike, Barracuda, Cisco Duo, and Datto RMM.

• Assist with security audits, compliance efforts, evidence collection, and technical documentation.

• Primarily manage Windows Server environments, encompassing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file services.

• Troubleshoot server, operating system, application, authentication, and connectivity issues.

• Oversee patching, updates, backups, monitoring, and lifecycle management.

• Provide Tier III infrastructure support and escalation assistance.

• Offer support for Linux-based systems and services as required.

• Aid in the administration and troubleshooting of Meraki infrastructure, Meraki vMX, FortiGate virtual appliances, VPN technologies, routing, switching, DNS, and network security measures.

• Collaborate with internal teams and service providers to diagnose connectivity, routing, firewall, and performance challenges.

• Maintain technical documentation, diagrams, standards, and operational procedures.

• Engage in cloud migration, modernization, security, and infrastructure lifecycle projects.

• Utilize Jira for project tracking, issue management, change coordination, and documentation.

• Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of five years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure engineering.

• At least three years of hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure administration or engineering.

• Profound understanding of Azure Virtual Machines, Azure networking, NSGs, routing, and security.

• Practical experience with Microsoft Intune and endpoint management.

• Experience supporting Azure DevOps and automation practices.

• Strong skills in Windows Server administration and troubleshooting.

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP, routing, VPNs, DNS, firewalls, and network segmentation.

• Familiarity with security tools, endpoint protection, vulnerability remediation, and access controls.

• Proficiency in PowerShell and an automation-oriented mindset.

• General knowledge of SQL, including the ability to understand basic queries and assist with application or infrastructure troubleshooting.

• Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and project coordination abilities.

• Capability to work independently, manage priorities, and support business-critical production systems.

• Experience in Linux server administration is preferred.

• Familiarity with Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or other Infrastructure as Code platforms is preferred.

• Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments and on-premises Active Directory integrations is preferred.

• Knowledge of Meraki vMX and FortiGate virtual appliances is preferred.

• Microsoft certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Network Engineer Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert are preferred.

• Experience with SQL Server, ERP systems, web applications, or application-hosting environments is preferred.
