AWS Virtual Workplace Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, configure, and provide support for AWS-based virtual desktop environments tailored for engineering and high-performance user workloads.

• Develop and sustain high-performance virtual desktop solutions that accommodate graphics-intensive applications, engineering tools, and rigorous computational demands.

• Enhance platform performance across computing, graphics processing, storage, networking, and overall user experience.

• Facilitate integration with identity and access management, security protocols, storage solutions, and enterprise network infrastructures.

• Diagnose performance, availability, connectivity, and application-related issues within the virtual desktop platform.

• Monitor platform health, capacity, costs, and service availability while recommending enhancements.

• Generate and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, encompassing solution designs, configurations, and operational procedures.

• Collaborate with colleagues from ELITS, customer stakeholders, cloud teams, infrastructure teams, and technical users.

• Take ownership of technical outcomes and contribute to the establishment of standards, operational excellence, and ongoing improvements.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of seven (7) years of pertinent experience.

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.

• Expert-level proficiency in designing, implementing, and supporting Virtual Engineering Workplace or virtual desktop infrastructure solutions.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud services and enterprise cloud ecosystems.

• Proven experience in delivering high-performance virtual desktop environments for engineering, design, graphics-intensive, or demanding workloads.

• Strong understanding of virtual desktop performance metrics, including compute, graphics processing units, storage, networking, latency, and capacity.

• Experience with Amazon WorkSpaces, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), or similar AWS-based desktop solutions.

• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and customer-facing abilities.

• Comfortable managing complex enterprise workplace environments and adapting to varied customer and project needs.

• Open to Canadian residents and individuals holding a valid work permit in Canada.
