AWS Data Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Deliver hands-on technical leadership through code reviews, architecture and design walkthroughs, and guidance on implementation.

• Create, implement, and enhance event-driven and real-time data streaming architectures.

• Establish and uphold best practices for data access, storage, and processing across both analytical and operational use cases.

• Design and implement scalable data platforms utilizing AWS-native services.

• Ensure that data architectures facilitate analytics, reporting, and AI/ML applications.

• Lead end-to-end data modeling across both operational and analytical domains.

• Define and implement frameworks for data quality, including validation rules, automated checks, and reconciliation processes.

• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, business stakeholders, and integration partners.

• Set and maintain data governance standards, encompassing metadata management and cataloging.

• Oversee and manage schema design and its evolution across relational, JSON, and Parquet data.

• Design and implement monitoring, logging, and event-driven alerting using Amazon CloudWatch and SNS.

• Ensure that pipelines are fault tolerant, observable, resilient, and scalable.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 11 years of experience in software engineering or a related IT field.

• In-depth knowledge of data architecture patterns such as lakehouse, warehouse, and mesh.

• Practical expertise with AWS services including SQS, API Gateway, SNS, Kinesis, Glue, EventBridge, Redshift, Lambda, CloudWatch, and RDS.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and operating enterprise-scale data platforms on AWS.

• Strong background in data modeling for both analytical and operational workloads.

• Comprehensive understanding of event-driven architectures and real-time data streaming methods.

• Familiarity with networking fundamentals and IAM implementation within AWS cloud environments.

• Experience with Agentic AI or AI-driven data ingestion, including the use of LLMs for data product creation and developer enablement.

• Proficient in infrastructure as code (CDK/Terraform) and contemporary DevOps practices (CI/CD, Git).

• Exceptional communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with business stakeholders.
