Automation Engineer – OEM

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.

📋 Description

• Deliver both remote and on-site application support, technical assistance, and training to OEM customers.

• Serve as a technical liaison between Hamilton teams for inquiries related to technical issues, method development, and testing.

• Collaborate with the Automation Consulting Engineer to communicate and monitor changes in customer requirements and additional requests.

• Create and evaluate application-specific protocols on Hamilton products according to the needs of OEM customers or Hamilton teams.

• Enhance or support OEM customers in improving liquid handling efficiency.

• Document developed applications in scripts and in customer-facing documentation when required.

• Troubleshoot, test, and design programming tools tailored to OEM customer requirements.

• Travel to OEM customer locations to deliver or sustain application development support.

• Supply support materials and platform/application-specific training to empower OEM development teams towards self-sufficiency.

• Maintain clear communication regarding progress and findings.

• Consult with the OEM Applications/Automation Engineering team, management, OEM ACEs, and/or Project Management as necessary.

• Collaborate closely with Project Management and R&D on application-related tasks and concerns.

• Assess project specifics and provide reasonably accurate estimates of effort and timelines.

• Cultivate professional relationships with coworkers and customers.

• Report directly to the OEM Automation Engineering Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or computer science is mandatory.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

• Capability to understand and apply principles of programming and liquid handling.

• Technical troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with equipment are required.

• Ability to speak and present effectively to an audience, engaging both technical and non-technical individuals.

• Good planning abilities and customer relationship management skills are necessary.

• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite is required.

• Willingness to travel nationally and occasionally internationally, up to 25% of the time.

• Familiarity with programming languages and general computer knowledge is preferred.

• Experience in laboratory automation, scientific applications, and/or laboratory bench sciences is advantageous.

• Previous experience in training and troubleshooting within a technical environment is preferred.
