Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sri Lanka.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and maintain automation workflows utilizing Rewst.

• Take ownership of the Rewst environment, establishing standards, structure, and governance.

• Review and enhance workflows for improved reliability, maintainability, and scalability.

• Create reusable workflows, components, templates, and automation modules using Python, PowerShell, Jinja, and JSON.

• Troubleshoot issues related to automation workflows.

• Maintain technical documentation for workflows, integrations, and automation processes.

• Assist in the establishment and development of an internal Rewst Centre of Excellence.

• Develop standards and best practices for Rewst automation.

• Consolidate and standardize existing automation assets.

• Construct reusable automation solutions for various MSP customers.

• Identify automation opportunities and transform successful solutions into repeatable offerings.

• Lead the technical onboarding process for MSP customers onto Rewst.

• Comprehend customer technology stacks, processes, and automation goals.

• Configure and integrate Rewst within customer environments.

• Identify and prioritize high-value automation opportunities.

• Provide ongoing technical guidance and support following implementation.

• Develop and maintain a catalog of standardized automation workflows.

• Package workflows and components for efficient deployment across customer environments.

• Design integrations between Rewst and third-party platforms utilizing REST APIs.

• Work with Microsoft Graph, Microsoft 365, and Azure APIs.

• Interpret OpenAPI and Swagger documentation for integration development.

• Manipulate JSON and other structured data formats.

• Troubleshoot authentication, API, and data integration challenges.

• Develop or support automation utilizing Microsoft Power Automate and Power Platform.

• Assess the most appropriate automation platform to meet business requirements.

• Evaluate emerging automation technologies and integrations.

• Engage with MSP customers throughout discovery, onboarding, implementation, and ongoing engagements.

• Participate in customer meetings, workshops, and technical discovery sessions.

• Translate technical concepts into operational and business outcomes.

• Identify manual processes that are suitable for automation.

• Collaborate with service desk, infrastructure, and operations teams.

• Utilize Git and structured development practices to manage changes and version history.

• Continuously enhance automation performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in developing automation workflows, integrations, or scripts.

• Experience with Rewst, or a strong ability to quickly become proficient in the platform.

• Solid knowledge of PowerShell, Python, Jinja templating, JSON, and REST APIs.

• Experience in developing reusable automation workflows and components.

• Strong understanding of structured development, testing, release, and version-control practices.

• Experience working within Microsoft 365 environments.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Graph.

• Ability to interpret OpenAPI and Swagger documentation.

• Experience troubleshooting authentication, API, and data integration challenges.

• Proficiency in working with structured data formats such as JSON.

• Previous experience within an MSP or Technology Services Provider is highly desirable.

• Service Desk, Infrastructure Engineering, or Systems Engineering experience is advantageous.

• Understanding of MSP platforms, including PSA, RMM, documentation, monitoring, and security systems.

• Experience onboarding customers onto automation platforms is beneficial.

• Experience with Microsoft Power Automate and Power Platform is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with .NET/C# is advantageous.

• Exposure to AI integrations, MCP, or emerging AI automation technologies is beneficial.

• Experience using Git or equivalent source-control platforms.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

• Comfortable taking ownership of projects and working independently.

• Quick learner of new platforms and technologies.

• Confident in direct communication with customers.

• Able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Commercially aware and able to connect technical solutions with business outcomes.
