Auto Appraiser

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Conduct physical inspections and evaluations of vehicle damage resulting from accidents, weather events, and other covered losses.

• Carry out virtual or in-person inspections at body shops or customer locations.

• Engage in estimate review tasks and collaborate with repair facilities.

• Create repair estimates utilizing industry-standard estimating software.

• Assess and resolve vehicle total losses by determining actual cash value through market research and analysis of comparable vehicles.

• Negotiate repair costs and settlements with body shops, customers, and third-party claimants.

• Identify and document pre-existing damage, previous repairs, and potential indicators of fraud.

• Work alongside claim representatives, body shops, and vendors to coordinate repairs and authorize supplements.

• Address coverage or repair-related issues as they arise.

• Clarify the appraisal process, respond to inquiries, and keep vehicle owners informed throughout the claims process.

• Adjust to new technology implementations, system upgrades, and rollouts of digital tools, particularly those related to AI.

• Act as a technical resource for auto claim staff and provide guidance to claim professionals regarding claim damages.

• Execute additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree.

• Active adjuster license, where applicable.

• A minimum of two years of experience in auto physical damage appraisal.

• Proficient in claims management and estimating software.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and enterprise technology systems and platforms.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Capacity to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions.

• Exceptional customer service capabilities.

• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

• Proven conflict resolution skills.

• Capacity to handle stress while maintaining composure and professionalism under pressure.

• Basic understanding of insurance principles, terminology, state insurance regulations, and claim handling requirements.

• Ability to quickly learn from experiences and apply knowledge to new situations.

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• One year of auto physical damage appraisal or comparable claim-related experience, or successful completion of the required Travelers Claim Representative training program.

• Valid driver's license.
