This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Conduct inspections and evaluations of vehicle damage resulting from accidents, weather conditions, and other covered incidents through virtual or on-site assessments.
• Review estimates and work closely with repair facilities to ensure precision, consistency, and excellence across claims.
• Generate repair estimates utilizing industry-standard estimating software.
• Assess and resolve vehicle total losses by determining actual cash value through market research, analysis of comparable vehicles, and valuation tools.
• Negotiate repair expenses and settlements with body shops, customers, and third-party claimants.
• Identify and record pre-existing damages, prior repairs, and potential indicators of fraud.
• Collaborate with claims representatives, body shops, and vendors to coordinate repairs, authorize additional costs, and address coverage or repair concerns.
• Clarify the appraisal process, respond to inquiries, and keep vehicle owners updated throughout the claims process.
• Adapt to new technology implementations, system upgrades, and digital tool introductions, including AI-related technologies.
• Act as a technical resource for auto claims staff and provide guidance to claim professionals regarding claim damages.
• Execute additional responsibilities as required.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Active adjuster license, where applicable.
• A minimum of two years of experience in auto physical damage appraisal.
• Proficient in claims management and estimating software.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and enterprise technology systems and platforms.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capacity to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions.
• Exceptional customer service capabilities.
• Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Demonstrated conflict resolution abilities.
• Capability to handle stress and maintain professionalism under pressure.
• Basic understanding of insurance principles and terminology, state insurance regulations, and claims handling requirements.
• Ability to learn quickly from experience and apply knowledge to new situations.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• One year of experience in auto physical damage appraisal or a similar claims-related role, or successful completion of the required Travelers Claim Representative training program.
• Valid driver's license.
