This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Prepare Australian income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, companies, and trusts.
• Create financial statements and supporting workpapers, ready for review and submission.
• Examine bookkeeping files, identify issues, and implement necessary corrections.
• Oversee EOFY adjustments, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, loan reconciliation, and other year-end journals.
• Utilize company tax expertise, including franking accounts, dividends, and related adjustments.
• Review balance sheet accounts and investigate any unreconciled or unusual balances.
• Reconcile accounting profit with taxable income.
• Assist junior team members by answering technical inquiries and contributing to the review of their work and professional development.
• Independently manage an assigned client workload from start to finish.
• A minimum of 2 years of substantial experience in preparing Australian income tax returns and financial statements.
• Practical experience with various Australian entity types, particularly companies and trusts.
• Strong understanding of company tax, including franking accounts and dividend adjustments.
• Experience in preparing EOFY adjustments and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
• Proven ability in preparing tax reconciliations and clarifying differences between accounting profit and taxable income.
• Experience in mentoring junior team members and providing clear, constructive technical feedback.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the judgement to recognize when issues require further examination.
• Familiarity with cloud accounting or Australian tax lodgement software, such as Xero, MYOB, or HandiTax (preferred).
• Previous experience in reviewing, mentoring, or supervising junior accountants (preferred).
