This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Assess whether statutory violations have taken place in cases investigated by the agency.

• Examine investigative reports for legal adequacy.

• Draft determinations and other legal documents for the review and approval of the Chief Legal Counsel and/or Executive Director.

• Collaborate with investigations managers to enhance work products and revise investigative reports in accordance with legal standards.

• Provide prompt and thorough responses to inquiries regarding investigations, including researching and discussing legal issues with investigators.

• Perform legal research pertinent to case investigations and reports.

• Complete research tasks and other assignments as directed by the Attorney Supervisor.

• Review case files and recommendations from the Division of Administrative Hearings, and draft proposed final orders for the commissioner's approval.

• Address legal inquiries related to employment discrimination, retaliation, public accommodations, whistleblower retaliation, and fair housing from agency staff, complainants, and the public.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must be admitted to The Florida Bar and maintain membership in good standing.

• At least one year of professional experience in law practice, legal research, law teaching, or administrative or judicial hearings.

• Familiarity with rules of evidence, investigative methods, court procedures, and their requirements.

• Capable of using deductive reasoning, effective communication, and delivering detailed verbal presentations.

• Proficient in collecting and analyzing evidence, maintaining strict confidentiality, and making independent judgments.

• Skilled in planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments.

• Able to analyze information and assess its validity.

• Competent in conducting fact-finding interviews and gathering statements.

• Able to build and sustain effective working relationships.

• Submission of a current resume, cover letter, and a writing sample of 2–5 pages is required.

• Must successfully complete a level two background screening, including fingerprinting and an FBI criminal-history check.

• Male applicants born on or after October 1, 1962, must fulfill Selective Service registration or exemption requirements.

• Must be an attorney in good standing with the Florida Bar.
