Associate Staff Engineer – Automation QA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Qatar.

📋 Description

• Create and implement robust Playwright end-to-end testing scripts for various product renderers.

• Analyze release scopes independently, determine testing needs, and carry out thorough release validation to ensure production readiness.

• Troubleshoot, examine, and resolve test failures in Harness CI pipelines and BrowserStack cloud execution environments.

• Collaborate with manual QA, developers, and product teams on test case mapping, coverage analysis, and defect reproduction.

• Continuously enhance and expand the existing automation framework by applying best practices.

• Identify potential testing risks, escalate any blockers, and lead mitigation strategies.

• Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies and sprint planning sessions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess practical experience with Playwright for end-to-end UI automation, including locators, auto-waiting, fixtures, reporters, and parallel execution.

• Strong expertise in TypeScript with an emphasis on producing clean, maintainable test code.

• Demonstrated experience in implementing the Page Object Model (POM) with clear distinctions between actions, assertions, and locators.

• Familiarity with YAML / JSON for managing test data and configuring environment-specific settings.

• Ability to independently assess release requirements, plan the testing scope, and execute end-to-end release testing with minimal oversight.

• Experience in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

• Capability to analyze CI test failures, pinpoint root causes, and resolve flaky or unstable tests.

• Proficient in Git, pull request workflows, and code review processes within a collaborative engineering team.

• Knowledge of multi-locale test execution and localization testing.

• Nice to have: experience with Cursor or similar AI coding tools.

• Nice to have: familiarity with Harness CI and BrowserStack cloud testing platforms.

• Good to have: skills in NeoLoad, Selenium, and Java.
