Associate Specialist, Health Information Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough analysis and reanalysis of records promptly and accurately.

• Process accounts from the EMR Waiting for Documentation and Missing Document work queues upon receipt of documentation.

• Collaborate with ancillary and nursing departments to obtain missing documentation.

• Communicate with providers regarding any missing documentation or dictation that hinders coding processes.

• Maintain an unbilled spreadsheet with updates on missing documentation status and distribute it to management.

• Review electronic medical records, creating and assigning charting deficiencies within the deficiency management system.

• Oversee analysis-specific electronic and manual work queues to ensure timely completion of analyses and charts.

• Assign and reassign accounts to the relevant work queues in accordance with company standards, policies, and workflow guidelines.

• Identify systematic issues and escalate them to the Manager for resolution at the facility level.

• Report non-compliance issues and trends that breach facility or corporate policies and standards.

• Document workflows, including any alterations, modifications, and changes to processes.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Preferred knowledge of CMS and Joint Commission regulations.

• EMR experience is preferred.

• Experience in Healthcare Revenue Cycle is preferred, particularly in acute care facility HIM settings.

• Must possess an inquisitive nature and be receptive to innovation, including the use of AI.

• CRCR certification is required within 9 months of hire/start date.
