Associate Specialist, Health Information Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough analysis and reanalysis of all records in a precise and timely manner.

• Complete accounts from the EMR Waiting for Documentation and Missing Document work queues upon receipt of documentation.

• Liaise with ancillary and nursing departments to obtain missing documentation.

• Follow up with providers concerning any missing documentation or dictation that is hindering account coding.

• Update the unbilled spreadsheet regarding the status of missing documentation and communicate this to management.

• Review medical record documentation within electronic medical records.

• Generate charting deficiencies in the deficiency management system and assign them to the relevant providers.

• Manage both electronic and manual work queues specific to analysis to ensure timely completion of analyses and charts.

• Add and reassign accounts to the appropriate work queues in accordance with company standards and workflow protocols.

• Identify systematic issues and escalate them to the Manager for resolution at the facility level.

• Report any issues and trends that do not align with facility or corporate policies and standards.

• Document workflows, including any alterations, modifications, and changes to processes.

• Undertake additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Preferred knowledge of CMS and Joint Commission regulations.

• Experience with EMR systems is preferred.

• Prior experience in Healthcare Revenue Cycle is preferred, particularly within acute care facility HIM.

• Must possess an inquisitive nature and be open to innovation, including the use of AI.

• CRCR certification is required within 9 months of employment.

• Must reside in and be authorized to work within the United States.
