This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Assess responses to examination questions from Texas educator candidates.
• Absorb scoring criteria, engage in discussions, and collaborate with fellow scorers during consensus scoring activities.
• Identify and address various forms of bias, formulating strategies to mitigate personal biases in the scoring process.
• Fulfill the quality and productivity standards required for the scoring program, which includes passing a qualifying examination prior to scoring.
• Participate in training sessions prior to the commencement of scoring.
• Attend a short orientation meeting if it is scheduled.
• Score during intermittent sessions from Monday to Friday, occurring every 4 to 8 weeks based on the subject matter.
• A minimum of three years of teaching experience in the subject being applied for in Texas.
• Must have taught the specified subject or related courses within a Texas classroom in the last three years.
• Must reside within the state of Texas.
• A bachelor's degree is required.
• Proficient in basic computer skills, including the use of a keyboard and mouse.
• Capability to sit for prolonged periods.
• Ability to uphold a confidential work setting.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Adhere to ethical responsibilities under §SBEC 230.21(g), which includes test security and confidentiality protocols.
• Prohibited from using scorer training or experience for paid test-preparation work related to this assessment.
• Must not take the relevant subject examination within 180 days of scoring.
• Must meet at least one of the following criteria: be a PK–12 educator holding a valid and current Texas teaching certificate for the subject; be a faculty member of a Texas-approved educator preparation program (EPP) offering the subject; or be a faculty member teaching Texas-approved certification courses for the subject.
• Must successfully pass a qualifying examination prior to scoring.
• Starting compensation of $17.50 per hour.
