Associate Portfolio Manager – Food & Beverage Retail

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in managing a portfolio of 4–6 small to mid-sized specialty food and beverage retail businesses.

• Aid in P&L management throughout the portfolio.

• Support business leaders in crafting annual plans while monitoring revenue, EBITDA, and cash flow objectives.

• Provide guidance to portfolio-company leaders, acting as a coach and accountability partner.

• Monitor and drive KPIs, recognize areas of underperformance, and facilitate the implementation of turnaround strategies.

• Assist portfolio companies in navigating leadership transitions, improving processes, and adopting new systems or initiatives.

• Collaborate with company leaders on growth strategies, capital investment plans, and operational enhancements.

• Act as a liaison between portfolio companies and Teamshares.

• Prepare and deliver regular updates regarding performance, risks, and opportunities.

• Identify and promote cross-portfolio synergies related to shared services, procurement, and best practices.

• Ensure that businesses operate in compliance with legal, ethical, and financial standards.

• Report to a senior Industry Lead, who maintains ultimate P&L ownership.

• Foster financial performance through company leaders and the senior Industry Lead rather than managing day-to-day operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, private equity, FP&A, business operations, or a similarly analytical and high-accountability environment.

• Strong financial acumen in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and performance analysis.

• Proven analytical rigor, including the ability to build P&L analyses and operating models from the ground up.

• Capability to establish trust and influence seasoned operators without direct authority.

• Comfortable transitioning between high-level strategy and detailed financial and operational tasks.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a focus on coaching business leaders.

• Entrepreneurial mindset; adept at operating with incomplete information, shifting priorities, and limited resources.

• Willingness to travel periodically to portfolio company locations.

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field.

• MBA or equivalent preferred.
