This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Perform both quantitative and qualitative research and policy analysis focused on student-readiness topics, which include advising and navigation systems, market-driven pathways, work-based learning, early postsecondary opportunities, social capital, credential attainment, and the enhancement of state funding and data-system infrastructure.
• Assist in the development of research and evaluation instruments, such as surveys, interview and focus-group protocols, and logic models.
• Provide technical assistance and facilitation to clients, collaborating with multi-agency state and local teams from K-12, higher education, workforce, and economic development sectors.
• Utilize authorized AI tools to expedite research, writing, and analysis, while ensuring accuracy, context, and validation against primary sources.
• Acquire expertise in key focus areas and enhance external visibility through contributions to publications, including reports, briefs, blog posts, tools, and both written and presentation materials.
• Aid in knowledge management by documenting lessons learned and creating replicable tools and models.
• Contribute to business development efforts through research and assistance with concept papers and proposals.
• Assist in grant and award management, including reporting for ESG, funders, and sub-grantees.
• Offer project management and logistical support, particularly for multi-stakeholder convenings.
• A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
• At least three years of professional experience in a relevant role that involves project coordination and analytical problem-solving, or a Master's degree plus one year of experience.
• Preferred experience working within or alongside school districts, state K-12, higher education, or workforce/economic development agencies.
• Strong skills in qualitative and quantitative research, data analysis, writing, and project management.
• Proficiency in spreadsheet data analysis using Excel and Google Sheets.
• Ability to create clear data visualizations for audiences that may not have technical expertise.
• Comfort in using AI tools for research, writing, and analysis, with the discernment to validate outputs, identify uncertainties, and recognize when human intervention is necessary.
• Familiarity with public K-12, postsecondary, and labor-market data sources such as IPEDS, Census, and state longitudinal data systems is advantageous.
• Capability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively across multiple projects to meet deadlines.
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively in teams as well as independently.
• Demonstrated maturity, adaptability, and comfort in a virtual work environment.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, estimated at around 10%.
