Associate Editor – Life Sciences

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Act as a point of contact for intricate and detailed editorial inquiries.

• Collaborate with various teams at PLOS, editorial board members, and external editorial groups to maintain exceptional standards of scientific rigor and editorial integrity.

• Assess submissions and make decisions informed by reviewers' feedback.

• Engage in initiatives aimed at developing editorial policies and enhancing the visibility and reputation of journals within the PLOS portfolio.

• Address inquiries related to publication ethics.

• Foster relationships with members of the academic community.

• Supervise the editorial process for manuscripts submitted to PLOS journals.

• Execute developmental and promotional activities for PLOS journals.

• Proven experience in a research setting, publishing, or a related field.

• Highly organized and effective, with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, both written and verbal.

• Capable of working under tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality and accuracy.

• Proficient in setting priorities and working independently.

• A PhD is a prerequisite.

• Ability to remain stationary at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods.

• May require occasional national and international travel.

• Flexibility to work across various time zones is necessary.
