This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Oversee assigned licensed publishing projects from the development of manuscripts to publication.
• Offer editorial insights and creative guidance while ensuring projects align with Delacorte’s editorial standards and licensor requirements.
• Identify, cultivate, and acquire specific new projects that target commercial opportunities, emerging trends, and potential within the MG/YA marketplace.
• Create original publishing concepts within licensed universes, including exploring formats, story ideas, and potential authors and creators.
• Assess proposals and manuscripts and engage in acquisition discussions.
• Foster and maintain relationships with authors, agents, licensors, creators, and external collaborators.
• Act as a crucial liaison throughout the publishing process.
• Manage submissions from licensors, including feedback, approvals, project timelines, and changing deadlines.
• Collaborate with Design, Production, Marketing, Publicity, and Sales on positioning and publication strategies.
• Oversee retail-exclusive editions and paperback adaptations, incorporating new editorial content and design features.
• Discover backlist opportunities for refreshed, repackaged, or updated editions.
• Contribute to the strategic expansion of Delacorte’s licensed publishing program.
• Minimum of 3 years of editorial experience in trade publishing.
• Proven ability to independently manage books or similar publishing projects through the editorial and production phases.
• Strong editorial insight and judgment.
• Capability to provide both substantive and line-level editorial feedback.
• Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
• Proficient in managing a substantial and dynamic workload while meeting multiple concurrent deadlines.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to follow-through.
• Ability to work collaboratively with creative teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
• Genuine interest in children's and young adult publishing, popular culture, entertainment properties, and franchise storytelling.
• Experience in licensed publishing and/or working with licensors and approval processes is advantageous.
• Must be located in the United States and available to work primarily on Eastern Time.
