Associate Editor, Data Integrity

📋 Description

• Evaluate code for clarity, completeness, and adherence to journal standards.

• Ensure that authors deliver accessible, well-commented code and relevant documentation that facilitates reusability and long-term value.

• Assist authors in enhancing responsible data management, open science practices, and ethical research conduct.

• Adhere to established workflows and foster a constructive, inclusive editorial atmosphere.

⛳️ Requirements

• Exceptional attention to detail and proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used by ecologists and researchers in evolution (R, Python, Julia).

• Knowledge of testing and validating code (e.g., via ROpenSci, CRAN, PyPI).

• Understanding of the benefits and limitations of AI in writing and commenting code.

• Capability to work autonomously, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively in writing.

• Dedication to the BES values: equity, sustainability, collaboration, and integrity.

• Interest in ecology and/or evolutionary biology.

• Enthusiasm for STEM publishing and editorial practices.
