Associate Editor – 12 Month FTC

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee the editorial workflow for manuscripts submitted to PLOS journals.

• Act as a point of escalation for complex and nuanced editorial inquiries.

• Assist PLOS teams, editorial board members, and external editorial teams in upholding scientific rigor and editorial integrity.

• Assess submissions and make decisions based on reviewers’ feedback.

• Engage in the development of editorial policies and enhance the journal's visibility and reputation.

• Address queries related to publication ethics.

• Cultivate relationships with members of the academic community.

• Exhibit a positive, constructive attitude towards change and maintain a growth mindset.

• Experience in a research setting, publishing, or a related field.

• Highly organized and efficient, demonstrating strong critical evaluation and problem-solving skills.

• Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, both written and verbal.

• Capable of working under tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.

• Proficient in setting priorities and working independently.

• A postgraduate degree in a relevant subject area is required.

• A PhD, MD, or equivalent qualification is preferred.

• Ability to remain stationary at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods.

• Occasional national and international travel may be necessary.

• Some flexibility to work across different time zones is expected.
